Ambassadors of
  Reconciliation
Ministries

A ministry to the incarcerated at the Butte County Jail in Oroville CA

501c3 since 2012

The Mission

To disciple inmates and help others fulfill Christ's expectation to visit the those in prison.

Matthew 25:39-40  When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?' "The King will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'

The Vision

Our VISION is to see the Christian community in Butte County awaken and rise up together across social, ethnic, economic and denominational lines to meet spiritual, emotional and practical needs of inmates, families and staff in the Butte County Jail. We want to see inmates get the help they need to transition from sinful lifestyles and incarceration into socially and spiritually productive life patterns that continue to grow upon release back into their families and community.
Join us! And do unto Jesus.
What Does ARM Do?
  1. It processes ALL inmate requests for a minister visit and/or a Bible or related materials.
  2. It communicates with jail authorities regarding scheduling, visiting procedures, and application procedures, and disseminates that information to volunteers and local clergy.
  3. It solicits, orders, screens, stores, and hand delivers new and used faith based books to inmates weekly.
  4. It recruits, trains, and certifies volunteer mentors. We call them Certified Jail Ministers.
  5. It assists and counsels family members in communicating with their incarcerated loved ones. See jail handbook here.
  6. It helps inmates connect with transitional resources like sober living environments (SLEs), government resources, and local churches.
  7. It helps inmates become aware of Biblical educational resources found on their tablets as well as various correspondence courses not on their tablets. Sign up your incarcerated loved one here, or here, for correspondence courses. My favorite - EmmausWorldwide.
  8. It requests, receives, and processes donations from churches, individuals, and non-profit supporting agencies all over Butte County.  In order to receive donations legally it requires the oversight of a board of directors (experienced volunteers) and many hours of management and meetings. Pvbs 11:14 "Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety." Don't get scammed. Check out non-profits on the IRS web page.
  9. It communicates to the community what is happening in the jail and how to fulfill or support the Biblical mandate and privilege of visiting those in “prison.” Matthew 25:40
  10. It provides prayer and Biblical counsel to the inmates at the Butte County Jail.
  11. NEW! It provides Angel Tree applications to provide gifts to kids of those incarcerated at the jail. See pamphlet.

Our name comes from the Bible.  It reflects our commission, given by Christ Himself to His disciples (Matthew 28:18; Acts 1:8), and passed on to the whole Church by Paul.

2 Corinthians 5:17-20 “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.  We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God!”

"I'm blown away that someone actually f... cares." Matthew is 57yo and a former BCJ inmate now serving time in state prison.

"It's been nearly three years and Kenny is now one of my best friends. God sharpens and encourages me through him." Kenny is serving a life sentence in state prison. Chaplain Ron

"I don't see how God could let this happen to me." Eli BJC inmate. But Eli continues to show up.

"I hear God when I am here. I'm meant to be here." Chad BJC Inmate
Who Are We?
We are a coalition of individuals, churches, and organizations who are committed to the Biblical mandate of communicating and demonstrating the transforming grace and truth of Jesus Christ to all those who have experienced the crisis of incarceration and their families. We are not affiliated with any church, denomination, or government agency.

Matthew 25:39-40
When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?' 40 "The King will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.' "

James 1:27  Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

As members of the Church, the people of God, is to be Christ's ambassadors to inmates and their families in Butte County.  As representatives of His kingdom, we are to exemplify His character, proclaim His message, and live out His will on earth.

"Growing up I never sought after religion. My mother and I would go to church, but I never put my faith and confidence in the Lord till I got in trouble." "Talking with a minister helps me mentally and spiritually. I know Jesus died for my sins, and I know I need to have a better relationship with him." Jack at BCJ

“I lived in foster homes and had no stability. I used my children as my friends. Wish I knew someone who had gone
through the same things. People aren’t trustworthy in jail and prison...I want to know people you can trust. I want to know God."
– Judy. In jail and prison multiple times.
